Kangwon National University

Kangwon National University, established in 1947, is one of the core 10 flagship Korean National Universities, and serves as a key educational institution of Gangwon province. KNU also is currently the largest National University in Korea in terms of student intake numbers (about 25,000 undergraduates).  

KNU is also the nearest National University to be located near city Seoul. It operates in 3 campuses which are located in Chuncheon, Samcheok and Dogye. Its 3 dormitories can accommodate up to 6,500 students.

Initially established as an agricultural college, Kangwon National University has expanded to the comprehensive university encompassing a full spectrum of academic fields. KNU comprises 20 colleges with 133 departments and 9 graduate schools – including the College of Business Administration, Medical (University Hospital) and Law School.

In particular, SBM intends to work with their College of Business on student exchange. Established in 1970, the College of Business is one of the 9 major National Business Colleges in Korea.

 KNU’s ranking amongst Korean Universities are as follows: 

• Ranked 18th in the latest Webometrics Korean University ranking of 100 Korean Universities.

• Ranked 20th in the URAP University ranking of top 50 Korean Universities. 

 • Listed in QS Asian University Ranking 2013 as “201 to 250”.
