Providence University, founded in 1956, is a Catholic co-educational institution in Shalu District. The University is a located in the setting of Shalu, Taichung County. Students enjoy clean air and expansive green vistas in and around the school. Despite the small town atmosphere, Shalu itself offers good environment and facilities for students eg accessibility to department stores to health and medical services. Taichung city is 20 mins away from the University. 

The University has 12,000 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate students (about 600 are international students). It has 22 departments, 21 graduate programs, 2 Ph.D. programs, 5 EMBA programs and one Chinese Language Education Center.

The University provides academic study opportunities for overseas exchange students. Several business courses are taught in English each semester. In particular, the College of Management has the following sub-departments:

Providence University is academically well regarded amongst Taiwan Universities:

• Webometrics ranked Providence University 28th position out of 128 Universities in Taiwan.  
• Academyrank placed Providence University 27th position out of 100 Universities in Taiwan.  
• Taiwan’s Ministry of Education ranked Providence University 9th position among the 31 universities in Taiwan and was awarded the 98th Academic Year University Teaching Excellence Grant. This is the fourth consecutive year that Providence University received this academic assistance from the Ministry of Education.
