DANKOOK UNIVERSITY

Outline:

Dankook University is a private university in South Korea. Dankook was the first four-year private college since Korea's independence and established in 1947. In 1967, Dankook was elevated to university status. And with the introduction of the second campus in Cheonan, DKU became the first among Korea's universities to have a branch campus.

DKU is located in Yongin, a major city in the Seoul National Capital Area, Gyeonggi Province (also location of Everland Theme Park). With a population of nearly 1 million, the city has developed since the 21st century, recording the highest population growth of any city in the country. This is about 30 mins by car from capital Seoul.

DKU has continued its phenomenal growth with the openings of its dental hospital in 1984 and the general hospital in 1994. Dankook University Hospital (DKUH) opened in April 1994 to improve regional health. It has 1,300 medical and other staff. DKUH is the largest general hospital in Chung Nam Province. Dankook has about 39,000 students pursuing the full range of undergraduate to PHD programmes.
