HALLYM UNIVERSITY

 

 

Outline:

Hallym is a private University established in 1982.  In 1995 it was designated by the Ministry of Education as one of a handful of universities entitled to receive the financial support of the Ministry for their specialised programmes. In addition, it has acquired the status of "distinguished university," the title granted by the Ministry of Education, three years in a row, and has also been selected for funding by the Brain Korea 21 Project.   Hallym University is placed as "Top 4" of The Conditions of Education in Universities by the Joong-Ang Daily Newspaper in 2011.  It is also placed as "Korea's Top 19" and "Asia's Top 100" Universities by Cho-Sun Daily Newspaper & QS APPLE in 2012.

Hallym University is a comprehensive institution.  It offers some 39 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.  It has more than 8,000 students and 1,400 staff.  The University also runs one of the largest medical centers / hospital in Korea.   It has 3 hospitals in city Seoul, 1 in Chuncheon, 1 in Gangdon and remaining 1 in Hangang.  The medical college has collaborative links with Singapore Parkway Healthcare Group in the area of medical tourism training and management.

The University has 8 colleges, including Business, International Studies, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Information & Electronic Engineering and Medicine. The College of International Studies was established in 2008 to accelerate the globalization of Hallym University.  The college provides 3 major programmes: (i) International Trade and Business; (ii) International Marketing Communications; and (iii) East Asian Area Studies.  All lectures and studies are taught in English.  The focus areas of study of the college include Economics, Business and Marketing Communications.  The Marketing Communications course is one of the college’s key foundations of teaching. The Marketing and Advertising programmes have been accredited by the Korean International Advertising Associaion (IAA).
